Hello again!

Over the last couple weeks, it has been clear to me (and others) that Facebook is no longer a place that deserves my money and attention. Thus, in lieu of another solution for an online diary, I am resurrecting this space, after six years of dormancy. Hi!

The last couple days have involved a lot of digital work. I’ve pulled my data from Facebook, disconnected groups and pages and all manner of connections, and generally warned folks that I’ll no longer be there. Today, I ran a ton of updates on my WordPress installations and realized that I also need to comb through each site for bad links and irrelevant information. It’s amazing to face all the old digital information, many years old, marking my friendships, projects, travels, and life as it changed to what it is today. And I presume it will continue changing as we all forge along in this world.

It has been tough getting rid of tools that I had been using for years and deleting that massive trove of data that I created. Yet once I started, I also felt exhilarated and streamlined, like a ship whose hull was being scraped free of barnacles. I’m not sure if I’ll drop the amount of time I spend on the internet, as I’ll likely just replace one social media drug with another; but the tantalizing possibility exists.

Thus, it has been a contemplative few days. Hello, again!
