Catching Up: Luna Moth Caterpillar at Cascade State Park

Last summer, I went camping with Fes Works on the north shore of Lake Superior. In the space of a few days, we covered something like five or six Minnesota state parks. I’ve been incredibly remiss in processing my photos from this trip.

Tonight, I polished my photos from Cascade State Park. Most were okay photos of pretty waterfalls, but this is the one that took the cake:

Luna Moth Caterpillar

Nature knows she's photogenic.

I’m about 90% sure this is a luna moth caterpillar (Actias luna), which, as an adult, usually scares the living crap out of unsuspecting Minnesotans because it grows to the size of a salad plate.
